Buying hats online

Serena Lindeman has been creating original and exciting headwear in her Nicholas Building studio since 1998. Her design philosophy is simple.. make the most interesting exciting headwear using the finest techniques available. Cut no corners with technique and finish, use only the finest materials and provide personal friendly service.

A word about headpieces

I've been thinking about how to create pieces that can be ordered with confidence online. Really important is that when you put them on they will sit right and look good straight away. That is why placing them on a hair band is a really good solution. This way when the hair band is on straight the headpiece is in a perfect position. Usually this is forward on the head angled over the right eye. Check out the way Alice has them on in the headpiece section of my shop by clicking here.

Japan Dreaming

The Millinery Association of Australia have made it possible for me to go to Japan in 2014 to investigate the millinery industry there. There are 3 main areas I'm interested in. The high end couture millinery with it's techniques and materials not familiar to us in Australia. I hope to learn some new skills to pass on to Australian practitioners. There is a vibrant culture of every day hat wearing which I would like to learn about too.

Clients are now sending me their photos to enter the draw for a $500 hat.

Here is a shot of Lara Reynolds wearing a red ruffled disc at Flemington in 2012 .   I have moLara chose this piece to go with a red dress & as you can see she teams it very successfully with this subtle grey to very good effect.  I just love the chunky jewellery.

As a member of the MAA I invite you to come and have a look and find a gem to wear to any fine occasion as the Melbourne Cup is coming up very soon. This opportunity wont last long so hurry in!

Tips for buying hats online

The most beautiful thing about the internet for us all is that it strips away distance, wherever I am now I can enter a search title and find amazing treasures from all over the world. Buying online is becoming more of a familiar activity, simply by using  Paypal or a credit card it's possible to buy and wait for the product to turn up.
Since the recent upgrade of this website I have been able to meet the needs of clients in remote Queensland, country Victoria and central Melbourne (where I am based).

It's one week before the football is over for another year.

I suppose it's routine for bloggers and mothers and milliners to say "How time flies"... and yes I know we all get the same number of hours in a day. So I suppose I should stop marvelling at that inevitability and discuss some more interesting matters. We are making some new hats and I want to tell you about them.
Here are some of the squggly hats that I am enjoying this year, these 3 are red or contain red. I love the way red is so sharp and eye catching. Most people can wear red and look great.
